The Great Bottle Top Chain

Scores of groups from around Cornwall and further afield joined us over the winter of 2014/2015 to collect all the bottle tops, caps and lids washing up on our beaches. 

In the end we collected an incredible 65,000 bottle tops in just three months, which were strung into a chain that stretched 1.1km. Watch the film here to see just how impressive this was!

Since then the chain has been taken to the European Parliament in Strasbourg to show to MEPs who will be discussing tightening up regulations on waste. It's also been displayed at various high profile locations to raise public awareness about marine litter - such as Truro Cathedral, the Boardmasters event at Fistral Beach, and the Cornish Seal Sanctuary.

We hope to use it in future for more campaigning work with the government and soft drinks industry. Watch this space ....
